Ice grotto at Rhone Glacier

The entrance to the 150 year old ice grotto at the Rhone glacier. Owned by owners of the Hotel Belvédère., which closed in 2016. It was once at the tongue of the Rhone glacier, but now it is no longer visible from the hotel.

Aletsch glacier trek

01/07/2022 trekking across the great Aletsch glacier with Volken sport in Fiesch, Switzerland. Treks of varying sizes take place between June and October each year and are hugely popular with tourists. The force from the ice, gives it these mountainous formations.

Gorner Glacier from Gornergrad

03/07/2022. The 12.9km long Gorner Glaciier can be seen from Gornregrad mountain station. It flows from the Monte Rosa massif past the foot of the Breithorn and Dufourspitze towards the Matterhorn.

Rhone Glacier Grotto

30 June, 2022. Rhone Glacier Grotto. Tarpaulin sticking through two pieces of ice at the Rhone glacier, taken while I was researching my thesis on adaptation to glacier melt. According to glaciologist @matthias_huss, Switzerland recorded the 6percent melt this summer- the worst since monitoring began over 100 years ago.
